Douglas Eugene Franklin

Douglas Eugene Franklin, 68 yrs. old, of Ridgeland, SC, passed away Thursday, November
30, 2023 succumbing to liver cancer.
Doug was born in Asheville, NC, and grew up in a family of five boys. Doug was upbeat,
friendly, funny, and loved athletics. He attended TC Roberson High School (Class of 74) where
he played football, basketball, and baseball. He was awarded a baseball scholarship by
Spartanburg Methodist College where he completed his Associate degree. He pursued his
education at the University of South Carolina Spartanburg and graduated with a Business
Administration degree in 1991. His business career brought him to Greenville, SC where he met
the love of his life, Monica, and together they found a passion for golf. While in Greenville,
Doug owned a retail golf store, Golf Etc. When they moved to Bluffton, SC, he continued his
commitment and knowledge of golf at Dick's Sporting Goods. Doug was respected among the golf community.
A member of Okatee Baptist Church, Doug was a man of faith and enjoyed singing in the church
choir. His smile and laughter will be missed by his many friends and family.
Doug was predeceased by his parents, Carlyle and Eldora Franklin and his brother Ric Franklin.
Doug is survived by his wife Monica Franklin; brothers Tom Franklin (Cindy), Mike Franklin
(Sheila), and Rodney Franklin (Ashley); nieces Amy Parker, Amanda Tillman, Tanner Franklin, Sara Miller, Brandi Laughter, Bonnie Garren and Beth Franklin, Zoie Franklin; and his nephew Dillon Franklin and Tyler Zoladz.
A memorial service for Doug will be held in the Lowcountry at Okatee Baptist Church,
Thursday, December 7 th at 2:00 p.m. A time for visitation and fellowship will follow the service.
A memorial service and celebration of life will also be held in Greenville, SC at The Preserve at
Verdae Golf Course picnic pavilion on Saturday, December 9 th at 11:00 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, those wishing to contribute in Dougs honor may do so to Telios Ministry, 23 Eula Street Greenville, SC 29609.
