Alvin 'Red' Johnson, 80, of Tansi Village, St Helena Island, South Carolina, passed away peacefully on August 5, 2019.
He was born January 16, 1939 to the late Marion and Birdie Johnson in Evans, Georgia and had a lifelong love of the outdoors. He served honorably in the United States National Guard and was a member of the UA Local 150 Plumbers and Steam Fitters Union having owned and operated several plumbing companies. Red could often be found fishing, golfing, landscaping, cooking and catering events, or celebrating life with family and friends. He was a true Southern gentleman, lived everyday to the fullest, and adored being a Papa.
He is survived by his son, Alan (DeAnne) Johnson, grandson Noah and granddaughter Kaney Belle of St. Helena, brothers Ronnie (Tammy) Johnson, Houston, Texas, Pat (Paula) Johnson, Murphy, North Carolina, sisters Maxine Parnell and Ann Gay, Augusta, Georgia. He was preceded in death by a beloved son Brian and wife Debra Johnson.
The family will receive friends from 5 until 7 o'clock, Tuesday, August 13, 2019, at Copeland Funeral Service ' One Copeland Drive, Beaufort, South Carolina.
