Ann Snell Mecherle, 81, of Beaufort, South Carolina, went to be with the Lord on
February 12, 2024. Services will take place at First Scots Presbyterian Church on
Saturday, February 24, 2024 at 2:00 pm. The burial will be private. Mrs. Mecherle was
born on March 10, 1942 in Providence, Rhode Island to Doris and George Snell. She
attended Brown University, where she obtained a Classics degree which she put to use
at the Colorado Historical Society after graduating and moving west with her husband,
Ramond Mecherle. In the summer of 1981, she and Ramond moved with their two sons
to Beaufort, where they made their home on the edge of peaceful Lucy Creek. Ann was
always active in the community, serving with HELP of Beaufort, chairing the Board of
Beaufort Memorial Hospital, and sitting on the Board of Beaufort Academy. Most
important to her, however, was her family (including her dogs), which she always put
first and cared tenderly for until the end of her life. She was preceded in death by her
parents, Doris and George, and her sister, Patricia Snell Barry. She is survived by her
husband, Ramond, her sons, Rip Mecherle (Nita) and Erich Mecherle (Erika), and eight
grandchildren. They include Isabelle, James, Madeline, Anson, Kieryn, Simeon, Eden,
and Zephaniah.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be given to: First Scots
Presbyterian Church Building Fund, 335 Sams Point Road, Beaufort, SC 29907.
Copeland Funeral Service is assisting the Mecherle family with arrangements.
