LADY'S ISLAND - It is with great sadness that the family of Annette Fleming Whyte Weaver, 78, of Beaufort, South Carolina announces her passing. Annette was born in 1936 and departed this life peacefully on Saturday, August 9, 2014 in her home. Annette is preceded by her parents, the late Edward Owen Fleming and the late Della Lee Tilley Fleming of Fuquay Varina, North Carloina, and her brothers, James Coleman Fleming, and Owen Tilley Fleming. Left to cherish her memory is her husband and true love of 17 years, Sterling Abernethy Weaver. She is survived by her sons Dr. Thomas Murphy Whyte, wife Thuy, and grandson, Alexander "Alec" Edwin Whyte of Greensboro, North Carolina; Paul Michael Whyte and wife Becky of Siler City, North Carolina; and daughters, Suzanne Whyte Southerland, and husband, Leslie "Brownie" of Seven Springs, North Carolina and Wendy Whyte Lynch and husband Herman of Concord, North Carolina; and granddaughters Chelsea "Bunny" Lynch Johnston, and husband, Ashton of Matthews, North Carolina; and Crystal "Kitty" Lynch Laidlaw, and husband, Joshua of Concord, North Carolina. She is also survived by her sister-in-law Patty Fleming (wife of Coleman), nephew and niece James C. Fleming, Jr, and Karen Fleming, all of Fuquay Varina, North Carolina. She is also survived by her step-daughters Janie Leigh Weaver and husband Charles Cunningham of Ypsilanti, Michigan; Margaret Lynne Weaver and husband Russell Smith of Wake Forest, North Carolina; and step-grandson Nathaniel Smith. Annette was born and raised in Fuquay Varina, North Carolina. She graduated from Fuquay High School, and attended Peace College. She was the Executive Secretary for the President of East Carolina University, Leo Jenkins (deceased) and retired from BellSouth. Annette was a kind and caring person who touched countless lives. Everyone who came in contact with her made a lifelong friend. Annette will always be remembered as a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She was held in the highest regard by friends and loved dearly by her family. Annette had a great appreciation for the natural world and all things associated with nature, and adored all plants and flowers. She, like her Mother before her, had a true "green thumb", and she also took great pleasure in growing plants and in re-arranging flowers that were sent to her. The family of Annette will receive friends 5 to 7 o'clock Wednesday, August 13, 2014 at Copeland Funeral Service - One Copeland Drive. A graveside service for Annette will be held 1 o'clock, Friday, August 15, 2014 at Wake Chapel Christian Church Memorial Gardens, Fuquay Varina, North Carolina.
