SAVANNAH, GEORGIA - Ceceile Richman of Savannah, Georgia passed away Monday, January 27, 2014, at her home at Buckingham South.
Born July 15, 1914, in Beaufort, South Carolina, she was a daughter of the late Samuel Richman and the late Annie Lipsitz Richman. Ceceile was educated in the Beaufort schools and graduated from Emory University. She received her Masters in Library Science from the University of South Carolina in Columbia. After working several years in Beaufort at Parris Island, Ceceile moved to Baltimore, Maryland, where she was employed for many years at the Enoch Pratt Free Library in downtown Baltimore. Upon her return to Savannah, Ceceile was a librarian in the Chatham County Library System. After her retirement, she lived in Savannah, happily spending her last years at Buckingham South.
Ceceile is survived by her sister, Jean R. Schoenberg (Barney) of Atlanta, Georgia; two nephews, David Cohen (Linda) of Charleston, South Carolina, and Arnold Schoenberg of Atlanta, Georgia, along with many cousins and friends.
The funeral service will be held at 1 o'clock Thursday afternoon in the chapel of Copeland Funeral Service in Beaufort. Interment will be in Beth Israel Cemetery in Beaufort.
