We are saddened to announce the passing of Charley Green Jr., also known to family and friends as Chuck or The Grinch. He left this world on Saturday, November 23, 2024 in Westerville, Ohio. He was only 52 years old.
Charley was born on January 5, 1972, in Beaufort, SC. He was the beloved son of Charley Basil Green and Mary Anne Green (Norton). He is survived by his wife Sirritha; children Evelyn Grey (Seph), Roman, Steven, Kevin, Carolann; parents Charley and Mary Anne Green; sister Ann (Trey); niece Catherine (John); and nephew Richard.
Charley was a mischievous young boy who enjoyed bb gun fights in the neighborhood woods and playing baseball and other sports. He could found on the ball field with Granddaddy, Johnny Basil Green. He learned cooking skills in the kitchen with his Granddaddy Norton. Charley was a graduate of Beaufort High School, class of 1991. He enlisted in the Army at the age of 17, and after completing 4 years, went on to serve 32 years in the Army Reserves, retiring as a Staff Sergeant with Troop B 202 Calvary. They then converted to the 131st MP Company. Then went to Columbia SC, as the 132nd MP Company. On most weekends Charley could be found on the golf course with his buddies or his sons Steven and Kevin and his daughter Carolann (AKA Turtle Butt) often as their chauffeur. He could also be found in his shed building anything from bookcases to tables and chairs.
Charley can be remembered for his dedication to his family, his service to his Country, and his passion for life.
The family will receive friends from 4:00 until 6:00 p.m., Monday, December 9th at Copeland Funeral Service. A graveside service for Charley will be held at 12:00 noon, Tuesday December 10th at Beaufort National Cemetery with United States Army honors.
