Christine Burnsed Jones, widow of Forrest Austin Jones, Sr. passed away peacefully Tuesday, March 8, 2022 in her home surrounded by her loving family.

She was born in Savannah, GA to the late Erastus Lemont Burnsed and the late Mittie DeLoach Burnsed on April 5, 1928. She was 93 years old.

Preceded in death by her brother, Earl Lemont Burnsed, Sr.

After elementary school her family moved to Claxton, GA. Upon graduating from Claxton High School, she attended Business College in Atlanta, GA. Thereafter, she accepted a job at Cameron Barkley in Savannah, GA where she met Forrest Jones, her life-long partner and love of her life. Forrest and Christine wed and moved to Beaufort, SC in 1950 where together they became bedrocks of the community participating actively in building the vitality of their businesses and civic projects. Notably, she owned and operated Bay Fashions for 20 years. They were, also, very involved with Carteret Street United Methodist Church where she was active in the United Methodist Women, Quilting Club, Gray Blades and Ouida Shearhouse Circle. Also, she was an active member of Beaufort Jayceettes, Beaufort Downtown Merchants' Association, Beaufort Historical Society and was also a Rotary Paul Harris Fellow. Christine loved flowers and was an enthusiastic member of the Broad River Garden Club. She was most passionate about her Camellias and engaged in grafting and growing many beautiful varieties. She was an active member of the American Camellia Society, recognized with many ribbons and awards.

Christine is survived by her 3 Children: Daughter, Linda Jones Sirisky and husband Ronnie of Charleston, SC; Son, Forrest Austin Jones, Jr. of Beaufort, SC; Daughter, Beth Ann Jones Julseth and her husband Ron of Hilton Head Island, SC. 5 Granddaughters; Shea Sirisky Cianciolo and her husband Derek; Lindsay Sirisky Schultz and her husband Brian, both of Charleston, SC; Carter Chase Julseth of St. Charles, MO and Heather Susan Julseth of Tucson, AZ and a Grandson; Hunter Grayson Julseth of Hilton Head Island, SC; Great Granddaughter; Stella Callaway Cianciolo and sister-in-law Juanita 'Neat' Burnsed of Savannah, GA and many nieces and nephews.

Christine was a wonderful mother, grandmother 'Mimi' and a true matriarch of her family. She too was a loyal and dedicated friend to many. She was happiest when surrounded by family and friends. She frequently hosted large gatherings of family and friends for holidays and special celebrations where her legendary cooking took center stage. She will be terribly missed and ever remembered by those that came to know her.

The family will receive friends from 2:00 until 4:00 p.m., Saturday, March 12, 2022 at Copeland Funeral Service.

The funeral for Christine will be held 1:00 p.m., Sunday, March 13, 2022 at Carteret Street United Methodist Church. Following the service a reception will be held in the church Fellowship Hall. Burial will be private.
