Clinton B. Campbell, 81, of Beaufort, South Carolina and beloved husband of Karen M. Peluso Campbell, died Friday, December 23, 2016, at home after a short illness on Friday night, December 23, 2016, where he was surrounded by family. Clint was born on May 25, 1935 in Somers Point, NJ and lived in Ocean City, NJ, the fourth generation Campbell to do so. Clint was predeceased by his parents, Clinton B. Campbell and Margaret E. (Cowdrick) Campbell. After graduating from Ocean City High School in 1953, he served in the U. S. Army from 1959-1962, where his love for cooking was enhanced. The proprietor of several family owned restaurants, including but not limited to, Hogate's and Spence Seafood, which he ran for 25 years. After retirement, his passion turned to real estate, investing and volunteerism. Later he began writing poetry which garnered awards and publication. He moved to Beaufort in 2000 where his zeal for cooking and baking for the community continued and he became known as "The Leftover Gourmet." It was always his mission to share. In addition to his wife of 23 years, he is survived by five children: Clinton Breckley Campbell III of Exton, PA, Craig S. Campbell (Jill) of Wall, NJ, Holly C. Viccaro (Mauro) of Blairsville, GA, Heather L. Olson (Eric) of Gainesville, FL, and Laura C. Sweer (Michael) of Stuart, FL. He is also survived by fifteen grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. They were his favorite people and they called him Zaida. The grandchildren are Heather L. Pierson (Chris), Thomas A. Campbell, Jessica L. Campbell, Steven C. Croisetiere, Christina L. Bates (Shawn), Christopher R.C. Olson (Katie Levinger), Katie E. Olson, Kimberly R. Swanson (Kristina), Raquel F. Fagnano (Jason), and Kevin M. Sweer. The great-grandchildren are Matthew David Pierson, Caroline Nina Olson and James Steven Croisetiere. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 o'clock Thursday, December 29, 2016, at Copeland Funeral Service - One Copeland Drive. A memorial service will be held at 9:30 Friday morning in the chapel of Copeland Funeral Service with burial at 11 o'clock in Beaufort National Cemetery. The family would like to thank all of the professionals at Beaufort Memorial Hospital and MUSC Charleston who provided kind and compassionate care.
