Cecil D. "Doug" McDaniel Jr., Colonel United States Army Retired, 82, husband of Mary Bell McDaniel, died Wednesday, February 11, 2015, at Beaufort Memorial Hospital.

Doug was born in Albany, New York and was a son of the late Cecil D. and Esther Jones McDaniel. Doug was a 30 year Veteran of the United States Army after graduating from the Citadel. While serving his Country, Doug was stationed at numerous places around the world. After retiring from the U.S. Army, he served as a consultant. He volunteered for numerous organizations in and around the Beaufort area. Doug loved golf and playing online bridge with his friends.

Surviving in addition to his wife of 60 years are his sister, Suzanne Jones and husband, Chappell, his children, Cynthia Johnson and husband Ben, Cissy Tice and husband Frank, Doug McDaniel III and wife Susan, Bill McDaniel and wife Megan, Seanne Holliday and husband Paul, Jenny Osborn and husband Chris and David McDaniel. Doug is also survived by 18 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 o'clock Tuesday, February 24, 2015, at St. Peters Catholic Church, Lady's Island. Burial will follow at St. Peter's Historical Catholic Church Cemetery, Carteret Street, with full Army Honors.
