Debra Johnson, age 62, of Tansi Village, St. Helena Island, SC passed away peacefully January 6, 2019.
Born in Newfoundland, Canada she was the only child of the late Bill & Joyce Evans.
She is survived by her devoted husband, Alvin 'Red' Johnson, her loving son Alan (DeAnne) Johnson, and her beloved grandchildren Noah & Kaney Belle Johnson.
Debra retired from the United Parcel Service in Augusta, GA then received her realtor license where she served the South Carolina Lowcountry for 15 years, earning the Realtor of Year Award. For the last 10 years, she was employed at the University of South Carolina Beaufort (USCB) holding many positions, most currently serving as the Special Projects Manager. She was also enrolled as a student in the Bachelor of Science in Communications program at USCB.
Debra enjoyed being involved in her community, serving as past president of the Zonta Club of Beaufort where she participated in many projects raising monies for local charities and spent many years serving on the Board of Directors for Tansi Village. She was a classy lady, an accomplished fisherwoman, an amazing cook, golfer, sci-fi fanatic, and creator of USCB's Family Fund Girl.
To know our MiMi was to love her immediately and she spent her life loving others unconditionally, especially her family and friends.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to USCB's Family Fund.
The family will receive friends from 5 until 7 o'clock Wednesday, January 9, 2019, at Copeland Funeral Service ' One Copeland Drive, Beaufort, South Carolina.
The funeral for Debra will be private.
