Devora Ballon Lewine, 92, passed away Monday, May 16, 2016, in Beaufort Memorial Hospital. Devora was born on October 26, 1932, in Beaver Falls, Pa. Devora grew up in Mt. Lebanon, Pittsburgh, PA and also spent a lot of time at their home in South Park Township. She graduated from Mt. Lebanon High School. During World War II, she was the executive secretary to the Chief Clerk of the Ration Board. August 11, 1946, she married Donald Lewine and they were married for 55 years. She worked in retail for many years. Devora was a gracious and compassionate person. Her hobbies included playing the piano, violin, classical music, opera, sewing, composing songs, singing, and writing jingles. Devora was also an avid reader. She was a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by her mother, Rebecca Ballon; her father, Abe Ballon; her brother, William, and her grand-daughter, Traci Rectenwald. Surviving are two daughters, Lisa Lewine and Sharon Rectenwald; two great-grandchildren, Stephen and Sarah; two brothers, Jack (Marilyn) and Richard (Layla), and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. She is also survived by her dear friend, Evelyn White, who was like a sister. They were friends for 89 years. The funeral service will be held at 11 o'clock Thursday morning, May 19, 2016, at the graveside, Beth Israel Cemetery - Bladen Street, Beaufort.
