Dr. Donald George Blanchard, Jr., 80, of Beaufort, S. C., passed away following several years of failing health.
A memorial service will be held at 2 o'clock Thursday, February 8, 2018, at the Parish Church of St. Helena with the Rev. Simonis officiating. Burial will follow with Navy Honors in the Church Cemetery followed by a reception at the Church.
Born in Cleveland, Ohio, on August 16, 1937, Donald graduated from Muskingum College in New Concord, Ohio and from Western Reserve Dental School in Cleveland, Ohio. He served as a dentist in the U. S. Navy (Commander) for 26 years.
Donald enjoyed travelling, sailing, water sports, marathons and triathlons, photography, golf and gardening. In 2011 he placed first in his age category in the Charleston Sprint Triathlon Series.
He is survived by: wife, Louise Capozzi Blanchard; son, Donald George Blanchard III (Cristiana); daughter, Suzanne Blanchard (Guido); three grandchildren, Samantha, Don IV, Rebecca; brother, Charles Blanchard; step-daughter, Melissa duMouchel (Mike), and step-son, J. Donovan (Amelia).
