Edmund Coleman Craft passed away peacefully on the evening of July 25th. He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Gail; a daughter Elisabeth Gordon Craft, sons Edmund Coleman III, and William Todd; grandchildren Madeline, Fletcher, Lindsay, Megan, Hudson and Emily; and a sister Mary Ann of Rocky Hill, NJ; and a brother-in- law Pearce.
Edmund was born December 23, 1939 in Plainfield, NJ, the son of Edmund Craft and Ruth Morrell, both of New Jersey. Before his retirement in 2000, Edmund had been a Vice President of Donaldson Co., Inc. in Minneapolis and had held that post since 1983. In 1990 to 1991, he also served as the Chairman of the Filter Manufactures Council of the Motor and Equipment Manufacturers Association. Prior to that he had a varied career that included Assistants to the late Robert S. Ingersoll, Chairman and CEO of Borg-Warner Corp. and former U.S. Ambassador to Japan. He also served in a number of other positions with Borg-Warner over a 15 year period including assignments in Hertfordshire, England, Wooster, Ohio, Chicago and Detroit. He is listed in Who’s Who in American and Who’s Who in the Midwest. He had served on local United Way Boards as well as The Executive Committee of the Board of Junior Achievement of the Upper Midwest. He was a member of the Dataw Island Club and the Dataw Island Yacht Club. He was a graduate of the Pennington School in Pennington, NJ, and Lycoming College in Williamsport, PA. In addition he attended graduate school at the Maxell School of Syracuse University and the Executive Management Program at the University of Minnesota.
