DATAW ISLAND, SOUTH CAROLINA - Edward Eugene Conway, Jr., 85, of Dataw Island, South Carolina, husband of Rosemarie Staniszewski Conway, died Friday, July 29, 2011, at the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston.
Born in Queens, New York, he was a son of the late Edward Eugene Conway, Sr. and the late Frances Galle Conway. Mr. Conway was a U. S. Army Air Corps veteran having served in World War II. He was a member of the Dataw Country Club, where he enjoyed golf and tennis, and a member of the Dataw poker club. Mr. Conway was in charge of the Living with the Convenience. He was a volunteer with Beaufort Memorial Hospital for a number of years.
Surviving are his wife of 59 years, Rosemarie Staniszewski Conway; a sister, Delores Burch of Florida, and a number of nieces and nephews.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 o'clock Tuesday morning, August 9, 2011, in St. Peter Catholic Church.
