Edward M. (Nick) Russell, Jr., Capt. USMC Ret, passed away September 28, 2023 after a brief illness.
He is survived by his wife Sarah, daughters Debbie and Diane (Dennis), grandchildren Nicole, Denise, David, Joe, Kayla, John, Ray and Danie and 13 great grandchildren.
Nick moved to Beaufort in 1966, fell in love with the Lowcountry and decided to raise his family here. He was an active member of many organizations. His love for the water began a lifelong love of fishing.
He is preceded in death by his parents, his sons Matt, Mark, and Mike and son-in-law Dennis Quirin.
Visitation will be held Thursday, October 5, 2023 from 3 until 5pm at Copeland Funeral Service- 1 Copeland Drive. The Burial will take place Friday, October 6, 2023 at 10am at Beaufort National Cemetery, with United States Marine Corps Honors. A Memorial service will be held at 11am, Friday October 6, 2023 at The Baptist Church of Beaufort- 600 Charles Street with a reception immediately following.
Those wishing to make a donation in Nick's honor can make a contribution to the American Heart Association.
