Eleita Lee Trezevant

January 11, 1950 — October 23, 2023

Eleita Lee Trezevant passed away October 21. She was 73 years old.
Eleita was born January 11, 1950, joining her parents Wilford Marshall and Marguerite Babb Lee. A proud preacher's kid, Eleita spent her childhood in Leland, Mississippi and Elizabethton, Tennessee before moving to Hilton Head Island her senior year of high school. She finished her high school career with long bus rides to Beaufort High. From there she attended Carson-Newman University in Jefferson City, Tennessee and The University of South Carolina-Beaufort.
While at USCB, Eleita met Daniel Heyward Trezevant III and they were married in 1971. The couple moved to Columbia to attend USC before settling back in Beaufort.
Eleita found joy in children. In addition to her own beloved children, Eleita opened her home to a select few families and kept the children while their parents worked. "Miss Eleita" spent her days enriching their lives and she shared a special bond with those kiddos into their adulthood. After her son became school age she spent many years at Shell Point Elementary as a paraprofessional and touched the lives of many BCSD students along the way.
Eleita (or Mrs. T) was the director of the Girls in Action program for The Baptist Church of Beaufort for 25 years. She was passionate about missions and shared that passion with as many in her community as she could.
No other name brought Eleita as much happiness as Granmomma. She found her life's calling when her first grandchild was born. Noah, Jake, Wil, Heyward, Gabe, Daniel V and Olivia showed us all how deeply she could love. In the last few years, Kyson and Ensleigh, Aubree, Isaac, Roman and William added to that love as she became a great-grandmother.
In addition to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Eleita is survived by her daughters Amy Squires (Tom) and Rachel Squires (Charles) of Beaufort and her son Daniel Heyward Trezevant IV (Anne) of Ormo, Wisconsin.
She is preceded in death by her dear husband and parents. A memorial service for Eleita will be held 2:00p.m., Thursday, October 26, 2023 at The Baptist Church of Beaufort.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations be made to the TOWMO program (Touching Our World with Missions Offerings) at The Baptist Church of Beaufort.
