Ella Pearnease Gatch, 95, widow of John D. Gatch, Sr., died peacefully August 13, 2018.
Pearnease was the eldest of ten children of Charles and Minnie Cleland of Ridgeland. Born in Cookeville, Tennessee on November 15, 1922 and moved to Ridgeland, SC at an early age. Pearnease worked throughout her career as a clerk in local hardware stores including Fordham and Ace.
Pearnease is survived by sons John 'Johnny' Gatch of Lady's Island, SC and Charles (Janet) of Lobeco, SC; grandchildren Leslie Teitel (Kevin) of Alexandria, VA, John 'Trey' Gatch of Port Royal, SC, Lisa Weslake (Tom) of Lady's Island, SC, and Chris Gatch (Rhonda) of Atlanta, GA; great grandchildren Miranda and Matthew Weslake, Megan and Maren Teitel, and Alaina and Tyler Gatch; sisters Barbara Mahoney of Monks Corner, SC, Charlene Cooler of Bluffton, SC, Karen Phillippi of Ridgeland, SC, Linda Lorick (David) of Columbia,SC and Quida Dell of Bluffton, SC.
The funeral service will be held at 2 o'clock Thursday afternoon, August 16, 2018, in the chapel of Copeland Funeral Service - One Copeland Drive. Burial will follow in Beaufort Memorial Gardens.
The family request that memorial contributions be made to local Hospice Groups.
