Frederick Lewis Wallace III (Fred), 87, passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his family and some close friends on Sunday, February 2, 2025.
"Dad", "PaPa", "Mr. Fred", "Freddy" as he was affectionately known, has left an indelible mark on the hearts of his family and all who knew him.
Born on August 24,1937 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and was the only child to the late Frederick Wallace Jr and Eleanor Wallace. He graduated from Lower Marion High School, where he played football and lacrosse. He attended Penn State University also playing football. While taking a break from college, he served our Country in the United States Army for three years. After serving, Fred returned to college at Clemson University where he graduated in 1963 with a BS in Industrial Management. He played football at Clemson for the Legendary Coach Frank Howard and was always a true Tiger! Fred met Donna, the love of his life, in 1968, and they were married in November of 1969 He worked for 3M Company which moved them from California to Georgia and then to South Carolina where he retired. After retirement, he worked at multi-parts and Classic Ford to keep busy and out of Donna's way.
Fred is survived by his wonderful wife of 56 years, Donna Wallace; his loving children, Dr. Jennifer Wallace-Sarathy (Aaron) and Craig Wallace (Lauren); 5 precious grandchildren, who dearly loved their PaPa: Brayden and Taylor Sarathy, Elloree, Waker, and Wilder Wallace.
Fred was a member of Chapin Christian Community Church and the Black Sheep Sunday School Class, a poker club, turkey club, Hardee's Coffee group, and a breakfast and lunch gang, which he always looked forward to and loved. Fred will long be remembered by his many friends for always having a joke or story to tell.
Fred always enjoyed boating on Lake Murray, playing cards and dining with friends, reading, going to movies, and watching his favorite team, The Clemson Tigers, whether in person or on TV. Fred loved his family with a passion, lived his life to the fullest, and will be greatly missed by so many.
Fred's Memorial Service will be at 3pm, Monday February 10th at Chapin Christian Community Church, 415 Lexington Ave, Chapin, SC 29036. A visitation with the family will be held at 2pm prior to the service.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Chapin Community Church in memory of Fred Wallace.
Copeland Funeral Service is assisting the Wallace family with arrangements.
