BEAUFORT - Geanell Johns Thompson, 88, of Beaufort, South Carolina, died Wednesday afternoon, January 14, 2015, at Beaufort Memorial Hospital.
Born in New Smyrna, Florida, she was a daughter of the late Lester Odell Johns and the late Evelena Ruth Bunton Johns. She retired after 34 years of service as a property control clerk at Marine Corps Recruit Depot Parris Island.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one sister, Beulah Mae Champan, and two brothers, Lester Odell Johns, Jr. and Joseph Harris Johns.
Surviving are her daughter, Barbara H. Thompson of Beaufort, South Carolina; several nieces and nephews, and her beloved dog, Riley.
The family will receive friends from 1 until 2 o'clock Saturday afternoon at Copeland Funeral Service - One Copeland Drive.
The funeral service will be held at 2 o'clock Saturday afternoon at the graveside, Beaufort Memorial Gardens. The service will be conducted by The Reverend Susan Ulmer.
