George Thomas “Tom” Romans
August 13, 1947 – March 22, 2025
George Thomas Romans, known to all as Tom, passed away peacefully at home in St. Helena Island, SC. He was 77 years old.
Born in Acworth, GA, Tom faced a challenging childhood but never let it define him. Instead, he built a life filled with love, kindness, and generosity. At a young age, he joined the U.S. Air Force, where he was stationed in England. It was there that he met the love of his life, Janice, whom he was married to for 55 years.
Together, they moved to the United States, finally settling in Alpharetta/Johns Creek, GA, to raise their loving daughters—Jennifer, Julia, and Victoria.
Tom was a proud and dedicated employee of AT&T and IBM, where he worked for over 40 years before retiring. A devoted husband and father, Tom was the heart of his family, always putting their needs above his own.
Beyond his career and family, Tom was known for his generosity and willingness to help anyone in need. Whether it was family, friends, or even a stranger, he never hesitated to lend a hand, always greeting the world with a warm smile and a kind, welcoming heart. He firmly believed that hard work and perseverance were the keys to success, a lesson he instilled in his children and grandchildren.
After years of dedication and hard work, Tom and Janice retired to the peaceful surroundings of St. Helena Island, SC, where they enjoyed the beauty of the Lowcountry and the love of their growing family. He leaves behind five cherished grandchildren—Austin, Calleigh, Madoc, Isabelle, and Parker—who will forever remember their grandfather’s wisdom, kindness, and boundless love.
Tom’s legacy is one of selflessness, devotion, and unwavering love. He taught those around him the true meaning of generosity—not through words, but through action. Though he is no longer with us, the impact of his love and kindness will live on in the hearts of those who knew him.
Per Tom’s wishes, he will be cremated, and there will be no memorial service or celebration of life. His family honors his request and finds comfort in the many memories he created and the love he shared.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in his honor to the Tunnel to Towers Foundation.
Rest easy, Dad. Your love, strength, and kindness will never be forgotten.
