GLORIA JEAN RAMSEY DIGGS was the fourth of nine children born to the late Willie and Eliza Benbow Ramsey on May 23, 1945 in Sumter County, South Carolina.
Jean, as she was called by family and close friends, went to be with the Lord on August 29, 2018. The Lord called and she answered Him.
She was employed for many years at MCCS (Marine Corp Air Station Beaufort, SC) in the accounting department. In 2007 she retired and could hardly wait to be outdoors. Planting a garden, grooming her MANY flowers, making sure the deer didn't eat her roses, having a maintained yard, cooking for the family especially during the holidays, and telling stories about growing up in the 'Sandhill' brought her and family so much pleasure and laughter.
As her health started to decline she required more assistance with the flowers BUT you had to do it EXACTLY as she told you. That's MOM: A loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend.
Willie Ramsey, Elizabeth 'Betty' Ramsey, Robert Marvin Ramsey, Eliza 'Toot' Grant, Freddie Ramsey, Dorothy Ann Ramsey, and Matthew Charles Ramsey; are brothers and sisters who preceded her in death.
Left to cherish her memories are her loving children Wanda, Eric, and Dwayne Diggs; two grandsons, Eric Diggs III, and Devin Diggs; one brother, Richard C. Ramsey, Sr.; nephew (like a son), Michael T. Ramsey; great-granddaughter, Khilynn Diggs; nieces, nephews, other relatives, and special friends. And of course, her dog Manley.
