United States Marine Corps retired GySgt Carl "John" Larson, 76, passed away on Thursday, November 7, 2013 at Veterans Victory House in Walterboro, SC. He loved the Marine Corps and retired after 22 years of service including three tours in Viet Nam and was also a retiree of Gulfstream Aerospace in Savannah, GA.
John was born in Mankato, MN on May 30, 1937, a son of the late Daniel W. and Coral Page Larson. John was an outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting and especially fishing. He had a beautiful tenor voice, loved music and was involved in singing all his life.
John was a member of Community Bible Church, a lifetime member of the V.F.W. and a former member of Beaufort Harbor Masters.
John is survived by his wife Evelyn; five sons, Shawn A. Larson of Bartow FL, Michael J Larson of Vicksburg MS, Glenn W Larson of St. Petersburg FL, Michael J Verroi of Alpharetta GA and Timothy A Verroi of Beaufort, SC.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. Monday, November 11th at Copeland Funeral Service - One Copeland Drive.
A graveside service for John will be held 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, November 12th at Beaufort National Cemetery with full Marine Corps honors.
