Imogene Holder Graham, 93, of Port Royal, South Carolina passed away on the morning of July 4, 2018.
She is survived by her devoted husband of 74 years, Hoyt; her daughter, Sandy Somerall (Rick) of Beaufort, and Tim Graham (Susan) of Easley. She is survived by four grandchildren: Sally Somerall of Columbia, Graham Somerall (Erin) of Beaufort, Trent Graham (Kara) of Easley, and Matthew Graham of Easley, and four great-grandchildren, Tanner and Brenton Graham, Charlie and Teddy Somerall. She is also survived by her sister, Reba Floore (Jim) of Greenville.
Born in Laurens, South Carolina, she was the valedictorian of The West Gantt High School Class of 1942. Imogene married Hoyt Graham in Greenville, South Carolina on June 15, 1944. She was a member of The United Methodist Women in churches in Greenville, Greenwood, Newberry, Lancaster, Ridgeland, Denmark, and Beaufort, South Carolina -- most recently The Susanna Wesley Circle at Carteret Street United Methodist Church.
She made fine cooking look effortless, and was known for her coconut cake, boiled custard, and dressing. For years and years, Imogene usually carried handwork with her, and created beautiful crocheted heirlooms. She enjoyed traveling the country with her husband, and visited all fifty of The United States. The names of most flowering plants came easily to her, and she was especially talented at growing the Christmas cactus. She also loved crossword puzzles and read voraciously. But, her loving family was the most important and lasting accomplishment in her life.
A memorial service will be held at Carteret Street United Methodist Church on Saturday at 2:00 pm. The visitation will immediately precede the service at 1:00 pm. There will be a private burial for family on Monday at The Beaufort National Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Caroline Friends of Hospice in Port Royal or Carteret Street United Methodist Church.
