BEAUFORT - James K. "Jim" Brown, 81, of Beaufort, South Carolina and husband of Norma Fink Brown, died Sunday, July 27, 2014 at Beaufort Memorial Hospital. Born in Toledo, Ohio on August 16, 1932, he was the son of the late Robert and Lucile Brown and brother of the late Richard Brown.  Jim was an engineering graduate of University of Toledo and moved to Aiken, South Carolina with his beloved wife Norma in 1955.  He enjoyed a long and wonderful career as a nuclear engineer at Savannah River Plant.  He had many years of service in the Knights of Columbus in Aiken and served in various leadership roles. Jim and Norma moved to Fripp Island, South Carolina following his retirement and lived there for several years. He volunteered at the Fripp Island Fire Department and served as president of the Public Service District during their years on the island.  He was an avid golfer and wood worker and dedicated husband, father, and grandfather. Jim was predeceased by his parents and his son, Kevin Douglas Brown. He is survived by his loving wife Norma of 61 years, his son, Dr. Kenneth Brown, and his wife Jackie, of Port Royal, South Carolina; his daughter, Lynn Brown Wythe, and her husband David of Chapin, South Carolina.  He was especially proud of his four grandchildren; Allen Brown, and his wife Claire, Leland Brown and his wife, Sarah, Katherine Brown and Stephen Wythe. The family will receive friends prior to the service in the Heritage Room at St. Peter's starting at 9:45 o'clock. A memorial service will be held at St. Peter's Catholic Church in Beaufort at 10:30 o'clock Friday morning, August 1, 2014.
