BEAUFORT, SOUTH CAROLINA - James E. Frank, of Battery Point, died peacefully at his home Sunday morning, February 19, 2012, surrounded by his loving family.
"Big Jim", ("Mr. Jim" to the youngsters), was born in New Jersey in 1938 and retired in 1989 after a long and accomplished career in law enforcement. He was an award-winning marksman and detective with the Linden, New Jersey Police Department, and also a member of the Union County, New Jersey Tactical Squad.
Settling on Fripp Island, his passions for fishing, boating, and fine wood-working, along with his easy manner and ready smile, endeared him to everyone he met. Jim was always ready to help others, whether with their boats, home projects, or simply his advice.
Surviving are his wife of 53 years, Connie; his brother, Richard; his sons, James, Michael and Douglas; his daughter, Dawn of St. Helena Island; his sons' families, and eight adoring grandchildren. His was a truly rich life.
A memorial service and reception will be held in his honor on Tuesday, February 21, 2012, at 2 o'clock at the All Faiths Chapel on Fripp Island, South Carolina.
