BEAUFORT, SOUTH CAROLINA - James Francis Kingsley, Jr. died in Jo Ann's arms on Thursday, June 20, 2013. The Kingsleys moved to Beaufort from Westport, CT in 1992. Jim Kingsley was born April 23, 1931 in Mount Vernon, NY, the son of James Francis Kingsley and Louise Roy Kingsley. When Jim was five the family moved to Atlanta, GA where Jim attended Marist Military School. Jim graduated from the University of Notre Dame as one of its most faithful sons and dreams of his funeral included playing the Notre Dame Fight Song. He met his future wife, Jo Ann Egger Kingsley from the University of St. Francis at a Notre Dame Mardi Gras Dance. After graduation from Notre Dame in 1951, he joined the U.S. Marine Corps with tours at Parris Island, SC, Quantico, VA and Camp Lejeune, NC as an infantry company commander.
A lengthy business career began in New York City with the New York Sales Executives Club, American Management Association, and as head of the worldwide program of AMA's Presidents Association. He then formed his own firm, Educon International Inc., a training and consulting firm for business and nonprofit organizations in 23 countries. He was on the Board of Trustees of Saint Leo College and a member of the National Center for Nonprofit Boards and the Strategic Leadership Forum. He authored a set of business books, TEAMPLAN! A Winning Strategy forYour Nonprofit Enterprise. Upon his business retirement in 2006, Jim volunteered on the curriculum committee of USCB's Osher Lifelong Learning Institute and as a tutor with Literacy Volunteers of America. Surviving are his wife Jo Ann; a sister, Mary Lou Golden of Warminster, PA; his son and daughter-in-law, David and Kathy Kingsley of Newtown, CT; three daughters, Karen Sue Kingsley of Bridgeport, CT, Patricia and Mark English of San Diego, CA, and Mary Ann and Paul Musante of Severna Park, MD; and six grandchildren, Emma and Caroline Kingsley, Maggie, Sarah and Lia Musante and Michael English. A memorial mass will be held 2:00 p.m., Saturday, June 29th at St. Peter's Catholic Church. Marine Corps Honors will be held crypt side at St. Peter's Catholic Church following the service. The family will host a reception at Applebee's Restaurant, 2338 Boundary St., Beaufort following the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in the name of James F. Kingsley, '51, to the scholarship fund at the University of Notre Dame - 1100 Grace Hall, Notre Dame, Indiana 46556.
