James C. Mellen

James Mellen, 83, of Beaufort, SC, died at his residence on October 21, 2024, surrounded by his family.
He was born in Amherst, Massachusetts in 1940 to George and Ethel Mellen. As a young man, he moved to Florida and worked at the Kennedy Space Center during the moon launch in the late 60s. He studied accounting in the early 70s and graduated from Armstrong State College working as a CPA/auditor for 40+ years in Beaufort and the surrounding counties.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his younger brother, Greg Mellen, and a child James Mellen, Jr. He is survived by his older brother, Barry Mellen; his wife of 59 years, Mary Ann Mellen; his children, Ricky Mellen, Tina Mellen and Randy Mellen (wife, Julie); his grandchildren, Allen Stepp (wife, Deanna), Billy Stepp (wife, India), Randy Mellen, Jr. (wife, Morgan), Jeremiah Mellen, Hezekiah Mellen, Zayda Mellen and Shyann Mellen; and his great -grandchildren, Colt Mellen, Mia Mellen, Kannon Stepp and Alyssa Stepp.
