Jane Mawby Ranger of Beaufort passed away on Monday, January 16, 2017, with family at her side. A memorial service will be held at 10:00 AM on Thursday, January 19th at Beaufort National Cemetery with Chaplain Ed Morgan officiating. Mrs. Ranger was born in 1927 in North Plainfield, New Jersey to Louise and Alfred Mawby. She is survived by her husband, Dr. James B. Ranger of Beaufort, a sister Joanne Burns of La Mesa, California, her children, Suzanne Ranger and Brian Ranger, and her grandchildren, Ryan Ranger, Monica Ranger, Henry Ranger, Jimmy Ranger, and Jennifer Ranger. She was preceded in death by a brother, Donald Mawby of New Jersey, and a daughter, Katherine of Tampa, Florida. Mrs. Ranger graduated as salutatorian from North Plainfield High School in 1946 and later went on to Traphagen School of Fashion in New York City. She was a later fashion designer for McCall Pattern Company of New York, the largest fabric design company of the day. Mrs. Ranger loved spending time with her grandchildren and traveling with her husband. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions in Mrs. Ranger's name to be made to Friends of Carolina Hospice located at 1110 13th Street, Port Royal, SC 29935.
