Janice Wynne Martin

d. May 16, 2013

BEAUFORT - Janice Wynne Martin, known to her grandchildren and others that loved her as "Beba", 78, of Beaufort passed away at home the morning of February 6th 2014. She was preceded in death by her husband of more than 61 years, Cecil W. Martin Jr. (Grandaddy), her mother Ms. Cora Mae Wynne, her father Mr. Frederick Wynne, and her brother Mr. Jack Wynne ; she is survived by her two children, Dr. Ronald J. Martin, DVM, of Beaufort, and Teresa M. Seigler, of Beaufort, her grandson CPT Steven P. Seigler, of Elgin, SC, her granddaughter, Ella Parton of Atlanta, GA, three other grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.

Janice Inita Wynne was born in Fort Valley (Peach County), GA April 22nd, 1935. She spent most of her childhood between Peach County and Jacksonville, Fl.  She met Cecil, a High School All-American football star, in 1949 when they both attended Fort Valley High School. At first careful of Cecil's reputation as a roughneck, she would not date him, that is, until he scared away all of her other potential suitors. Eventually Cecil's persistence paid off, and they were married June 22nd, 1952. They both soon enjoyed the births of their children, and Cecil was able to secure an internship at Robbins AFB in Warner Robbins, GA, which eventually led to a career in Civil Service from which he retired in the early 90's and brought them both to Beaufort.

Janice followed Cecil on his career path, which took them around the country, from San Diego, CA to Norfolk, VA, a journey that was not always easy, but provided them with a colorful array of adventures and memories that they cherished until the end of their days.  Janice devoted herself to raising her children and providing them the best possible life, though she was also a licensed real estate agent and worked occasionally in that field during her lifetime. Janice and Cecil moved to Beaufort in 1977 when they were transferred to MCAS. After a short time, they built a home and decided that this was where they would stay, having fallen in love with the area. Janice was always heavily involved in service and charity in the Beaufort area, and was a founding member of Community Bible Church.  Beba made a lasting impact on all she blessed with her love, kindness and generosity and she will be greatly missed by her family and all who knew her.

Janice will be honored in a memorial service held Saturday, February 15th 2014 at 1100 A.M. at Community Bible Church.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorial donations be made to Community Bible Church in her honor.
