JB Taylor, 93, died Saturday, November 17, 2018, at 4:30 am at Morningside of Beaufort from complications related from cancer. In hospice care for two weeks prior to his death, Taylor died peacefully.

He leaves his wife, Doris Jean Taylor; son, Tracy Jeffrey Taylor with wife, Brenda Lee Taylor; two daughters, Delores Jean Taylor and Linda Ann Barnard with husband, Charles Barnard; sister, Marguerite Manuel; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren, and eight great- great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Daisy Mae Chambers and father, Ab Lee Taylor; brother, Wilford Taylor; three sisters, Edna Griffin, Tommy Jean Oliver and Jenny Bagley, and two sons, Billy and Douglas.

Born in Selmer, Tennessee October 18, 1925, JB spent his early years tending to the farm from early morning and would walk to a one room building to school. JB served a 24-year naval career from a young age at 16 in 1941 to 1965 when he retired at 40 years old. He earned Medals of Honor for many acts of bravery and heroism like when he jumped into shark infested waters to rescue over 30 people from a crashed plane, and even pulled a man from a great white sharks mouth. JB and his family settled in Beaufort, South Carolina where he continued to work diligently at a moving company to provide for his family while creating a future for many generations. JB purchased the mobile home park where he raised his family in a double decker 3 bedroom home, and founded Taylor's Mobile Home Estates.

Long known for his positive outlook on life and his hard work ethic, strong stature, never give up charisma and treat everyone as you want to be treated attitude, JB always took care of everyone around him.

The family will receive friends from 11:30 until 12:30 Wednesday, November 21, 2018, at Grays Hill Baptist Church.

The funeral service will be held at 12:30 p.m. Wednesday at Grays Hill Baptist Church with a eulogy given by Pastor Jim Baker. Burial, with full United States Navy honors, will follow the service at 2 p.m. at Beaufort National Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to Agape Hospice Beaufort - 188 Paris Avenue, Port Royal, South Carolina 29935.
