BEAUFORT, SOUTH CAROLINA - Jean B. Tuck of Bluefield, Virginia, and wife of Bill Tuck, passed away Monday, October 22, 2012 in Beaufort, South Carolina after a long battle with cancer. Jean was born on April 1, 1934, to the late Charles Russell and Eunice Byrd Taylor of Suffolk, Virginia. She was a registered nurse for 34 years, with the last 4 years as Director of Nursing, before retiring in 1988 from St. Luke's Hospital in Bluefield, West Virginia. Jean loved gardening, taking every opportunity to work in her flowers and yard. She was gifted in her ability to paint, knit and cross-stich. Jean also loved to travel. Survivers include her husband of 41 years, Bill Tuck; a daughter, Sharon Thorton and husband, James, of Chesapeake, Virginia; a grandson, Taylor Harvey of Chesapeake, Virginia; mother-in-law, Mozelle Obershain of Roanoke, Virginia; a step daughter, Karen Radford of Princeton, West Virginia; a step grand-daughter, Amanda Radford of Daytona, Florida; four brothers, William Taylor and wife, Eloise, of Franklin, Virginia, Edward Taylor of Roanoke, Virginia, Raymond Taylor and wife, Sarah, of Denver, Colorado, and Robert Taylor and his wife, Shirley, of Suffolk, Virginia and a sister, Faye Fletcher and her husband, Raymond, of Beaufort, South Carolina. The family will receive friends from 1 until 2 o'clock Saturday afternoon, November 3, 2012, at Oakey Funeral Home - 4257 Brambleton Avenue, Roanoke, Virginia. The memorial service will be held at 2 o'clock Saturday afternoon in the chapel of Oakey Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the American Cancer Society, Post Office Box 22718, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma 73123-1718.
