BEAUFORT, SOUTH CAROLINA - Jeanne Bush Campbell, 84, of Beaufort, SC, died June 12th, 2013. Jeanne was born in Richmond, VA, daughter of the late Leslie Eley Bush, and Elmira Rawls Bush. When the family first moved to Aiken, from Barnwell, where her former husband, DR. Julius E. Campbell, Jr. practiced Family Medicine, she was Chairman of many Aiken Horse Shows, once entertaining Mamie Eisenhower. Even though she made claim of being related to the other "Bush's", she remained a lifelong Democrat. She was active in the Campaigns of Fritz Hollings, and a member of the South Carolina Women's Golf Association, holding many offices while serving. She was very proud of her early American heritage, and activities, in the Daughters of the American Revolution. She had an incredible voice, once foregoing an opportunity to sing professionally. She chose her family, and the Church, where she flourished and enriched the lives of others, by singing and leading, in the choir of St. Thaddeus Episcopal Church, in Aiken. After leaving Aiken, in 1970, she moved to Beaufort, and became a member of St. Helena Episcopal Church. Jeanne was a Realtor, in Aiken, and Beaufort Counties, for many years. She was a sophisticated Virginia girl, who came South to Anderson College, after WWII, met a Clemson boy from Camden, fell in love, got married, and had four children. She loved people, and the warmth of South Carolinians, settling in on the charm of Beaufort, and the low country, enjoying a wonderful home, entertaining, and family gatherings, on the Coosaw River. She was predeceased by a daughter, Leslie Campbell Easterlin, her "lovely daughter". Jeanne is survived by two sons, J. E. "Boe" Campbell III, and wife Michelle, of Ridgeway, and David R. Campbell, and wife Marianne Williams, of Gilbert, a daughter Emily Mills, and husband Roger, of Pooler, GA, and son in law DR. W.W. Easterlin, JR, of Georgetown, nine grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren. A sister, Dorothy Bush Turner of Eugene, Oregon, and long time best friend, Walton B. Horton, of Beaufort, loved as a second Mother to the children. A memorial service for Jeanne will be held at 1pm, Tuesday, the 18th, of June, 2013, at The Parrish Church of St. Helena Episcopal. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. There will be a reception to follow in the Latimer Room, on Church grounds. In lieu of flowers the family request that memorial contributions be made to The Parrish Church of St. Helena, P.O. Box 1043, Beaufort, SC, 29901-1043.
