It is with profound sadness that we announce the untimely passing of Jeremy Scott Walls, a cherished father, son, brother, friend, and a bright light in the lives of all who knew him. Jeremy departed from this world on July 2, 2023 at the University of Nebraska Medical Center after a battle with cancer, leaving behind a legacy of love, compassion, and an indomitable spirit that touched the hearts of many. Preceded in his death was his great grandmother, Minnie Mills Carter, his grandmother Ruth Carter Jones and his grandfather Jack W. Jones. He is survived by his father Leo A. Walls and mother Elizabeth Blackwell Walls, a brother Philip Michael Walls and nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins. He was married to Natasha Chaplygina - Walls and had two children, Katherine Marie Walls and Sean Alexander Walls.
Born on July 3rd 1973, Scott was a charismatic individual with an infectious zest for life. From a young age, he demonstrated a remarkable curiosity and an unwavering passion for knowledge. Scott graduated from Walterboro High School. He earned a degree in biology from the University of South Carolina and then graduated from the University of Tulsa School of Law.
Scott's career brought him to his home State of South Carolina and then to Nebraska. Beyond his professional accomplishments, Scott was a dedicated Lacrosse enthusiast. He loved the sport and coached a local Nebraska team often attending games, tournaments and practices with his son Alex.
Scott's departure leaves an immense void in the lives of his beloved family and friends. They will forever treasure the memories they shared and find solace in the knowledge that Scott's love will continue to surround them.
To honor Scott's life and the impact he had on those around him, a memorial service will be held on Aug. 4 at 11 a.m., Beaufort Memorial Gardens and a Celebration of life at 1 p.m., Lake Warren State Park, Hampton, S.C.
Friends, family, and all whose lives were touched by Scott are invited to attend and pay their respects. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to the Jeremy Scott Walls Memorial Scholarship Fund. This fund will support aspiring students pursuing studies at the University of South Carolina, ensuring Scott's passion for education and innovation lives on through others. Jeremy Scott Walls will be deeply missed but never forgotten. His legacy of love, intelligence, and compassion will forever inspire those who were fortunate enough to know him. May he rest in eternal peace, surrounded by the beauty he cherished and the love he so generously shared.
