Jewel Ramsey, 89, was called home while she slept after a brief stay in a nursing facility on March 8th in Frankfort, KY. She did not suffer and was not in pain.
She was born on March 10, 1927 in Gastonia, North Carolina to the late Maynard and Lettie Duncan.
She was preceded in death by her husband, RB Ramsey, Sr.; her sisters, Louise Norwood and Evelyn Lineburger, and her brothers, Carlton Duncan and Bevin Duncan.
She is survived by her daughters, Judith Ramsey Mattern of Florida, Joyce Beeker of Kentucky, and Donna Schmidt of Oregon; and her son, Riddick 'Rick' Ramsey, Jr. of Pennsylvania; her grandchildren, Tillman A. (Tra) Erwin III, Teisha Coffman, Dana Marz; Dustin Winkler, Jason Pulis, Melissa Francis, Brennen Ramsey and Sarah Ramsey; her step-grandchildren, Derrick Smith, Kelsey Magnus, Abby Magnus, Carry Peppen and Renny Schmidt; her great-grandchildren, Breccan Smith, Gavin Smith, Nathaniel Hamilton, Paul Pulis, Brandon Pulis, Emily Pulis, Elizabeth Pulis and Scarlett Kiel Ramsey.
Jewel and her late husband, RB, were long-time members of Gray's Hill Baptist Church of Beaufort, South Carolina. They owned and operated Econo-Wash Laundry in Beaufort before they retired in 1992.
She attended Franklin County Senior Center ' Adult Day Care Division in Frankfort, KY starting in 2006. The center provided interaction with other people, meals, activities, field trips, exercises, etc. to help maintain a good quality of life in her later years.
There will be a celebration of life memorial service on Wednesday, May 10, 2017, from 11 to 12:30 o'clock in the chapel of Copeland Funeral Service - One Copeland Drive. Burial will follow in Beaufort Memorial Gardens.
