We regret to advise his friends and associates that John H. (Jack) Schleef passed away on Monday, June 13, 2016 at Bay View Manor, Beaufort, SC. He met his final hours with calm, prayer, and hopeful curiosity for his future. He was grateful for many years of good health, high energy, travel, adventure, prosperity, and love from family and friends. He is survived by his precious and loving wife, Nicolina, and his Thomas of Washington, D.C. Jack was predeceased by as son John. Jack had stayed in close and affectionate contact throughout the years with both his sons. Jack was born December 06, 1928, in Jamaica, New York, son of John Nicholas Schleef and Mary Magdalen Schleef. He graduated with honors from Columbia University, New York, in 1951. He was Honorably Discharged from the U.S. Army as 2nd Lt. in 1957. Jack joined IBM in 1954 and took early retirement in 1988, after a long successful career, during which he traveled throughout North America, Europe, and Southeast Asia in various management and executive positions overseeing company business. After retirement, he and his wife Nikki gave up the cold of the northeast and built a home on Dataw Island in South Carolina to which they moved in 1995. At Dataw, Jack spent his time in social and volunteer activities, golfing (he had been a member of the golf team at Columbia during his college years), boating and working on his grounds. Copeland Funeral Service will arrange and oversee his travel to his home territory on Long Island. Jack will be entombed in Pinelawn Memorial Park and Garden Mausoleum.
