d. August 12, 2015

Jonathan B. Peck, 80, of Dataw Island, husband of Marilyn Potters Peck, died Tuesday, August 11, 2015 at Hospice of Charleston.

Mr. Peck was born in Glen Ridge, NJ, a son of the late Russell and Dorothy Bosworth Peck.  He was a graduate of Radnor High School, Radnor PA, and a proud and loyal alumnus of Gettysburg College. Mr. Peck was also a U.S. Army Veteran.

While Mr. Peck lived and worked in Topsfield, MA, he was very involved with the Athletic Association. He sat on the board of the Essex Agriculture and Technical Institute. He was the proprietor for Learning Systems Inc., Boston MA, a criminal justice and juvenile diversion program. Later, Peck became Executive Director at Flaschner Institute in Boston where he led a program to train judges. He also taught at Boston University School of Management.

Following these engagements, Mr. Peck established Jonathan Peck Associates, a communications and management consulting firm that provided speechwriting, presentation skills coaching, and communications training, as well as strategic and business planning services to a wide variety of private and public sector clients.

Mr. Peck was an avid cyclist and one of the pioneer participants in the PanMass Challenge, a two day bike trek to benefit the Dana Farber Cancer Research Institute in Boston. He also participated in a number of triathlons and enjoyed golf.

Both Mr. Peck's vocation and avocation were centered on helping young people with the transition to adulthood and tapping their youthful potential. He was enthusiastic about helping them see the possibilities beyond their sometimes limited horizons. His avenue of approach was often athletics. His advice and counsel evolved into the Skills for Life program which has enriched and inspired thousands of young people from middle school through college.

Mr. Peck was pre-deceased by a daughter, Allison Peck, a son Andrew Peck and a brother, Joel Peck.

He is survived by his wife; a son, Craig Peck; two step-children, Jessica McCurdy and Mark Bottai; a brother, David Peck; ten grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
