Joseph Jack Lipton

Joseph J. Lipton, 100, of Columbia SC passed away May 16, 2023.
He was born on March 11, 1923 in Charleston, SC to the late Helen Stern Lipton and Samuel H. Lipton of Beaufort, SC.
He is survived by his daughters, Victoria Navarro, Julie Wall (Maxwell), grandsons, Thomas Paul Jones and Andrew D. Wall all of Columbia SC, and many very special cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Nancy, brothers Alfred Lipton of Beaufort, SC, and Dr. Morey Lipton of Charleston, SC, and his son Thomas David Jones of Columbia, SC.
He attended Clemson University and continued his education at Mercer University earning his law degree in 1959. He was employed as a staff attorney for the SC Legislative Council in 1962 and retired in 1987.
He was known for his sharp wit, special writings, oratory skills and love of reading and music. Joseph was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and special friend to many. He will be missed and will always remain in the hearts of all that knew and loved him.
A graveside service and visitation for family and friends will be held at Beth Israel Cemetery, Bladen St, Beaufort, SC on Monday May 22, 2023 at 2:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers any donations may be made to the Beth Israel Synagogue, PO Box 328, Beaufort, SC 29901 or to a charity of their choice.
