Kenneth Oakley Bush

BEAUFORT - Kenneth Oakley Bush, 66, of Beaufort South Carolina, and husband of Jenny Hurley Bush died on Wednesday, June 25, 2014, at his home. He was born on April 11, 1948 to the late Mr. Oakley Bush and the late Ms. Shirley Wood Bush. He received his BA from Wake Forest University in 1970 and then proudly served his country for 10 years as an infantry officer in the United States Marine Corps. He then attended the University of Georgia and completed his Masters in Business Administration in 1984. Ken is survived by his wife of 41 years, Jenny Hurley Bush, daughter, Jodie Bush Miller, and son, Captain Jonathan Bush, and his wife, Evie, and two grandchildren, Anne-Murphy and Nathan Miller. Ken lived in Beaufort for many years and had a special love for the Lowcountry.  He served the community in many ways, specifically as a past Treasurer, United Way of Beaufort County; Past President and Board member, Lady's Island Business and Professional Association; Charter member of Leadership Beaufort; Member of the Advisory Committee, Northern Beaufort County Planning Commission; and as a Member of Friends of Hunting Island. A memorial service for Ken will be held at the Parish Church of St. Helena's at 11 o'clock on Tuesday morning, July 1, 2014.  Interment will be in the Parish Church cemetery with military honors will follow.  The family will receive friends at home after the burial.
