Kyle Robert Smith, 71, passed away in his home in Lady's Island, South Carolina on January 15, 2021.
He was born May 18, 1949 in Olney, IL to the late Thomas Kyle and June Adele Blackburn Smith. Kyle graduated from Edison High School in Tulsa, Oklahoma with the class of 1967 and attended Westminster College in Fulton, Missouri from 1967-1968. He transferred to Oklahoma State University (OSU) in Stillwater, Oklahoma and received an Associate of Science (AS) degree in Aeronautical Technology in 1970, and then completed his Bachelor of Science (BS) Degree in Aviation Engineering Technology from OSU in 1972. Upon graduation from OSU, Kyle worked for Cessna Aircraft Co. in Wichita, Kansas as an industrial engineer, and supervisor of technical services from 1972-1980. The remainder of his professional career was spent with General Electric in the Aircraft Engine Maintenance Center as a process control engineer and a manufacturing engineer, in Arkansas City Kansas. In 2013, Kyle moved to Lady's Island to be near family. Kyle will be remembered for his kindness and wit. He enjoyed spending time with his family, friends. Kyle and his beloved wife, Susan Dee Smith, were married on December 30, 1970 in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
Kyle is predeceased by his parents and his wife, Susan Dee Smith.
He is survived by his only daughter and son-in-law, Marcy and Chet Houston of Lady's Island, SC.; three grandchildren, Brynna, Ashlyn, and Faith Houston of Lady's Island, SC., and one sister, Janet Dabi of Tulsa Oklahoma.
