With great sadness we announce the passing of Laurance Howard Davis Jr. on March 17, 2020 after a sudden illness.
Laurance joins his beloved grandson, Brian Bundy, in Heaven.
Born on March 4, 1929 in Tampa, Laurance was a resident of Beaufort for over 75 years. He is survived by his wife of 71 years, Sarah Pinckney Davis, and his 3 children and spouses: Kathy, husband Robert Bundy; Larry, wife Gloria; and Carol, husband Jeff Hale. Laurance is also survived by his brother Wilbur Davis of N.C, his sisters, Gloria Lobaugh of T.X. and Mary Harding of N.C. Laurance has 4 surviving grandchildren, Sarah Davis, Charlie Body, Carly Shumate, and Bob Bundy. Laurance has 4 great-grandchildren through Bob and wife Heather; SarahBette, James, Hadley and Seanie: 4 great-grandchildren through Charlie and wife Mandy; Taylor, Haley, Bo, and Teddy plus a great-great-granddaughter, Charley; in addition, he has 3 great-grandchildren through Carly and Billy Shumate; Natalie, Nathan, and Kaylee.
Laurance graduated from Georgia Military College, a school for which he had the highest regard. After initially working in retail sales, he spent much of his career working in real-estate sales and development. In 1978, Laurance was chosen as Realtor of the Year by the Beaufort County Board of Realtors. During his career, he sat on Boards of Directors for local businesses, was a founding member of the Savings Bank of Beaufort, and served as Chairman of the Finance Committee of the Carteret Street United Methodist Church.
Laurance died at home surrounded by his family. He will be missed by all who knew him.
A private service was held on March 20, 2020.
