Larry Dale Murray, 75, of Lady's Island, died June 8, 2017, at Candler Hospital, Savannah. He is survived by his wife Heidi, as well as his son Reuben, daughter-in-law Sharon and their children Andrew and Paige, all of Albuquerque, NM. He was also survived by his sister, Anita Steward, her husband Dick and their daughter Lisa, of Stanley, NC.
Larry, originally of Asheville, NC, served in the Air Force for 20 years, beginning in 1960. First serving on airplane fueling lines, including a year in Bangkok during the Vietnam War, Larry later returned to school and became a Drug & Alcohol Counselor. Following his retirement, he joined New Mexico's Family Services division, working on behalf of abused children. In 1992, he & Heidi moved to Beaufort, where Larry served 8 years as a marriage & family counselor at the Marine Air Station. After retirement, Larry was able to devote more time to the church and to his beloved & frustrating golf game.
A graveside memorial service will be at noon, Monday, June 12 at Beaufort National Cemetery with Air Force Honors. A reception will follow immediately after at the home of Bobbi & Cindy Aimar. Directions will be provided at the service.
