CHAPIN, SOUTH CAROLINA - Leona Elinor Anderson Bollman passed away peacefully in her sleep early Friday   morning at Lowman Home in Ballentine, South Carolina.  She was 89.  Leona was born in New Britain, Connecticut in 1921.  In 1941 she married William John Bollman, Jr.  She and her husband relocated to Beaufort, South Carolina in 1968.  In 2003, because of declining health, Leona moved to Chapin to be closer to her family. First and foremost, "Nonie" was a devoted wife and mother, always putting the needs of her family before her own.  She dearly cherished family gatherings.  She enjoyed playing bridge with her friends, entertaining, baking cookies for grandchildren and neighbors, and traveling with her husband.   While in Beaufort, she loved playing golf and was active in the Beaufort Garden Club. She was predeceased by her husband of 53 years, two brothers, and two sisters.  She is survived by her two sons, William J. Bollman III (Kathy) of Younges Island, SC, and J. Lee Bollman (Nancy) of Chapin, SC.  She is also survived by four grandsons, Jeffrey Bollman Jr., William Bollman IV, John M. Bollman, and Matthew Jenkins, and four great- grandchildren.

The family wishes to thank the staff at Lowman Home, Bethany, Damascus, and Bethel Units, who treated Miss Leona with dignity and respect and provided compassionate care for her over the past five years.  These dedicated caregivers made a most difficult situation much easier for Leona and her family.  The family also wishes to thank the ministers and visitation team at Chapin United Methodist Church who faithfully visited Leona during her stay in the Lowman Home.

Memorials may be sent to We Care, 400 Lexington Avenue, Chapin, SC 29036 or Chapin United Methodist Building Fund, 415 Lexington Ave., Chapin, SC 29036.

A memorial service will be held at Chapin United Methodist Church on Sunday, September 25th at 3:00 PM.  Visitation will be held in the sanctuary one hour prior to the service at 2:00 PM.  A graveside service will be held at the National Cemetery in Beaufort, SC on Monday, September 26th at 1:00 PM.
