BEAUFORT, SOUTH CAROLINA - Mamie Lou Blocker, 90, of Beaufort, South Carolina and widow of Roger Miley Blocker, Sr., died Saturday afternoon, March 3, 2012, at her residence.
Born in Ridgeland, South Carolina, she was a daughter of the late Robert Graham Rowell and the late Ruby Gertrude Dean Rowell. Mamie was a member of Great Swamp Baptist Church. She was predeceased by three brothers Curtis, Frankie and Leo Rowell, and a great-grandson, Landon David Pevey.
Surviving are seven children, Roger M. Blocker Jr. of Beaufort, Lonnie R. Blocker, Sr. of Lady's Island, Larry Blocker of Morgantown, West Virginia, Gail B. Pevey, and Linda Blocker, Pam B. Caldwell and Donna Lou Garvin, all of Beaufort; eleven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren; four sisters, Myrtle Smith of Grays, Evelyn Crews and Eva Mae Calhoun, both of Savannah, and Ann Blocker of Lady's Island.
The funeral service will be held at 2 o'clock Tuesday afternoon in the chapel of Copeland Funeral Service conducted by The Reverend Jean Keefe. Interment will be in Beaufort Memorial Gardens.
