Margaret Ann Gatch (1940-2016) daughter of Joseph L. and Margaret H. Holleman of Seneca, SC, deceased, died on August 4, 2016 at MUSC Hospital in Charleston, SC from a virus and complications of Alzheimer's. She was born in Seneca, SC and was in the first class of women graduates of Clemson University. She worked as an Elementary School Teacher until the births of her daughter and son. She devoted her life to her daughter and granddaughters and to her Special Needs son. She supported her Christian Faith by serving as an Elder in Presbyterian Churches in Atlanta and Beaufort. She served on the National Presbyterian Women's Advisory Board and was the recipient of the Presbyterian Lifetime Achievement Award, only a handful ever awarded in the US. She was a founding member of First Scots Presbyterian Church of Beaufort.  She served on the Advisory Board for Disabled and Special Needs Citizens in Atlanta and Beaufort. She worked to increase housing opportunities for Special Needs Adults in the Beaufort Area.  She was an active member of the United Daughters of the Confederacy, the Daughters of the American Revolution, the Colonial Dames XVII Century and the Beaufort Historical Society. She is survived by her husband John D. Gatch, Jr. of Lady's Island, her daughter Leslie Anne Teitel (Kevin) of Alexandria, VA, her son John D. Gatch, III, "Trey" of Port Royal and her sister Joanna Holleman of Atlanta. Memorial Contributions may be made to First Scots Presbyterian Church of Beaufort, Post Office Box 1774, Beaufort, SC 29901. A Celebration of Life Service will be conducted by First Scots Presbyterian at the Baptist Church of Beaufort on Charles Street at 11:00 AM, Saturday, August 13th.
