Marguerite Rose Keating 87, of Callawassie, South Carolina, and formerly of Old Bethpage, New York, passed away peacefully on March 24, 2018.

Peggy, as she was known, was born on March 4, 1931 to John and Alice Phillips in Flushing, New York. She was the second youngest of six children and predeceased by her parents and older brother, Robert Phillips.

Peggy attended Bishop McDonald high school in Brooklyn, New York and later attended Farmingdale Community College where she attained an associate's degree.

Throughout her life she was a devout Catholic and a parishioner at St. Pius X of Plainview, New York and St. Peter's of Beaufort, South Carolina. For many years Peggy was a volunteer for the Birthright organization of Long Island and the Boy Scouts of America.

Peggy is survived by her loving husband of 62 years, Thomas Keating; four devoted sons, James (Jacqueline), Thomas (Ann Marie), Peter (Maggi) and John (Christin), and ten grandchildren, Bradley, Sara, Layne, Clare, Elizabeth, Katie, MacKenzie, Michael, Jack and Conor. She is also survived by two sisters, Alice Labella of Manhasset New York, and Sister Bernadette A. Phillips, CSJ, of Jamaica New York, sister-in-law Sister Maureen Keating, CSJ of Brentwood, New York and two brothers, John Phillips of Elgin, Illionois and Alfred Phillips of Midlothian, Virginia.

The family will receive friends from 4 until 6 o'clock Tuesday, April 3, 2018, at Copeland Funeral Service - One Copeland Drive.

A Mass of the Christian Burial will be held at 12:30 Wednesday afternoon, April 4, 2018, at St. Peter's Catholic Church on Lady's Island, South Carolina. Burial will follow at 2 o'clock in Beaufort National Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested a donation be made in Peggy's name to St. Peter's Catholic Church of Beaufort South Carolina.
