BEAUFORT, SOUTH CAROLINA - Marion Paone Gamache, 94, of Beaufort, died Monday, June 17, 2013 at her residence. Marion Paone was born in Utica, NY on August 3, 1918. She married Charles Gamache and the couple moved to Washington DC where Marion became the personal hair stylist of Mami Eisenhower where she developed a love of politics. Owner and operator of her own Beauty Salon for over 50 years, she received National recognition for Women of the year. She served with several prominent Senators and Congressmen and she was the president of the Hairdressers Association for the State of Maryland. Upon her retirement to Beaufort Marion continued to serve working the polls for every election, volunteering at the Boys and Girls Club, was an active member of the Columbiaettes and of St. Peter's Parish on Lady's Island. Marion is survived by three children Earl Gamache, Melanie Spurlock, and Kenneth Gamache; 7 Grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. The family of Marion will receive friends Thursday from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. with a prayer service held at 6:30 p.m. A Mass of Christian burial will be held 1:00 p.m., Friday, June 21st at St. Peter's Catholic Church. Burial will follow in Beaufort Memorial Gardens.
