BEAUFORT, SOUTH CAROLINA - Funeral Service for Martha Dunlap Tucker, 95, will be held 2:00 p.m., Saturday, November 10th at Carteret Street United Methodist Church with the Reverend Susan Ulmer officiating. Burial will follow at the Parrish Church of St. Helena Cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday, November 9th at the family home, 505 Pinckney Street, from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. Mrs. Tucker, widow of George Long Tucker, Sr. passed away at her home on Wednesday, November 7, 2012. Born in York, S.C., she was the daughter of the late Thomas Cleveland Sr. and Daisy Simrill Dunlap. She was a member of Carteret Street United Methodist Church. After graduating from Winthrop College, she moved to Beaufort where she met the love of her life, George Tucker, Sr. She was kind, gracious, loving, giving, a Christian, wonderful wife, terrific mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, hostess, friend to so many and a very competitive bridge player. Many people have said, "Being around Martha always makes them want to be a better person." She was predeceased by her daughter Martha Ann Tucker. Surviving are her sons and daughter-in-laws, George and Vickie Tucker of Hayesville, NC, Tommy and Trea Tucker of Beaufort SC; daughter and son-in-law Jane and George Garbade of Hartsville SC; her grandchildren are George (Karen) Tucker of Oviedo FL, Carrie (Brian) White of Orlando FL, Hydie (Scott) Burroughs of Charleston SC, Laura Tucker of Charleston SC, Cleveland Tucker of Asheville NC, William Tucker of Beaufort SC, Tucker (Courtney) Garbade of Greenville SC, and Allison (Wade) O'Kelley of Hartsville SC. Also surviving are nine great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews. She truly loved all. Many thanks go to her wonderful caregivers- they instantly became family members.
