Mary Frances Parke Hays, 75 of Beaufort, SC passed away Saturday, December 24, 2022. A celebration of life is planned for April.
Fran was born in Lexington, KY on October 10, 1947, to Harris Parke and Janice Moore Parke. She is a
graduate of Hindman High School, received her undergraduate degree from Eastern Kentucky University
and earned her master’s degree in library sciences from University of Southern Florida. Her love for the
written word led her to a career as a librarian in Winchester, KY, then Naples, FL and finally in Beaufort,
SC.
Fran is survived by her three children: Whitney Hays McDaniel (Todd) of Beaufort SC, grandsons Andrew “Taylor” and Joseph “Hays”; son Benjamin F Hays, Jr., granddaughter Madeline Edmonds Hays, great-grandchildren Grey Ellison & Marlowe Rose Fugate and grandson Andrew Stephens Hays; daughter Janice Hays Mottola and grandchildren Grace Ann, Sylvia Fairfax “Farah” and John Michael Mottola. She is also survived by her brother Larry Parke (Jane), of Hindman, KY, niece Sarah Parke Marko (David) and nephew Brad Parke (Sydney) and grand-niece Charli Jane and many loving cousins.
