BEAUFORT - Mary Ida Cone Kolb, 69, of Beaufort, passed away on Thursday, March 27, 2014. Born November 4th, 1944 in Denmark, SC to the late George M. Cone and Sarah Lee (Weeks) Cone, Mary Ida is a graduate of Denmark High School and later received an Associate's Degree in Secretarial Sciences from Palmer College in Charleston.
She retired as an administrative assistant in the nursing program at the Technical College of the Lowcountry in 2000.
An active member of the Baptist Church of Beaufort, Mary Ida sang in the choir, taught a children's Sunday School class and was a member of the Agape Sunday
School Class.
Along with her husband, she also belonged to Gideons International, where she served as state vice-president for the South Carolina Auxiliary and president of the
Beaufort Auxiliary.
She is survived by her husband of 47 years, Benjamin Jackson "Jack" Kolb; their children, Benjamin Jackson Kolb, Jr. (Sarah) of Spartanburg, and Jeffrey Lewis Kolb (Shelley) of Beaufort; her brothers, Leonard A. Cone (Ann) of Bamberg and George M. Cone (Mary) of Orangeburg; seven grandchildren, Benjamin Jackson, III, Sarah Emily and Hogan Andrew Kolb, of Spartanburg, Mabrey Noel, Carter Reames, Clara Geddings and Tillman Weeks Kolb of Beaufort.
The family will receive friends from 2 until 4 o'clock Sunday, March 30, 2014, at Copeland Funeral Service - One Copeland Drive.
A memorial service will be held at 1 o'clock Monday, March 31, 2014, at The Baptist Church of Beaufort. Burial will be private.
Her family wishes to thank the many who showed kindness during her illness, especially the ministering caregivers whom she loved.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made The Baptist Church of Beaufort Music Program, Gideons International, Friends of Caroline Hospice or Alzheimer's Family Services of Beaufort.
