Maryann Evelyn P. Mills

Maryann Evelyn P. Mills, 96, of St Helena Island, widow of John W. Mills Jr., died Wednesday, August 7, 2024 at her residence.
Evelyn was born in Alpharetta, GA and is a daughter of the late Rufus Theodore and Wilma Claire Castleberry Phillips. She was a graduate of Druid Hills High School in Decatur, Ga. Evelyn was formerly employed by Woolworth and Helena House. Some of Evelyn’s hobbies included quilting, word search books, and stamp collecting. In addition to her husband and parents, Evelyn was predeceased by siblings, Calvin and Ted Phillips; children Johnny and David Mills and Susan Hicks; and great grandchildren Cameron Hicks and Owen.
Evelyn is survived by children Denise Hamrick and Randy Mills; 16 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren, and 12 great-great-grandchildren.
A Celebration of Life for Evelyn will be held 9:00 a.m., Tuesday, August 20, 2024 at Tidal Creek Fellowship. Burial will follow at 11:00 a.m. at Beaufort National Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Tidal Creek Fellowship in remembrance of Evelyn Mills.
